Currituck County responds to petition calling for “immediate” action on beach erosion
In an apparent response to a petition drive that calls on the Currituck Commissioners to take “immediate action to address Currituck beach erosion,” Currituck County issued a statement on Friday, Nov. 7.
The language in the petition is critical of what it characterizes as the county’s inaction on the issue and states that the recent series of storms have “accelerated beach and property destruction.”

The Currituck County Board of Commissioners recognizes that recent storms have caused erosion along our beaches. The board is committed to continuing to monitor the coastline and developing a beach management plan.
