Our Community Foundation has announced the Teaching Innovator Grant recipients for fall semester projects. Washington Community Schools received a $250 grant to support the Graffiti on Deck Project. Kim Conder accepted the award and was named a Teaching Innovator.

The Graffiti on Deck Project will give 6th-grade art students the opportunity to explore the world of graffiti as a legitimate art form and apply their knowledge in a fun, hands-on way. Students will study the history, styles, and cultural significance of graffiti, then design their own miniature skateboards. Each student will create a unique piece of artwork that reflects their creativity while connecting to popular culture.
