For nearly a decade, Delta Air Lines and Aeroméxico have operated as partners, coordinating flights, schedules, and fares across some of the busiest U.S.–Mexico routes. But in September, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) moved to break up that relationship, arguing that the joint venture was creating "anticompetitive effects" in key Mexico City markets. The agency gave both airlines a deadline of January 1, 2026, to dismantle the partnership.
