The City of Harrisburg is a winner in the new state budget.
It will see its annual appropriation for providing fire protection services at the Pennsylvania Capitol Complex boosted from $5 million to $7 million.
The money is intended to reimburse the city for providing fire and emergency services for nearly 40 state-owned office buildings in and around Harrisburg for which the city receives no property tax payments.
It’s notable that the 40 percent boost comes on the heels of the April arson attack at the Governor’s Residence on North 2nd Street.
