FITCHBURG, Wis. — A 40-year-old man died at the scene following a crash on U.S. Highway 14 from McCoy Road just north of Lacy Road in Fitchburg Thursday morning, according to officials.

The Dane County Communications Center received a call about the crash at approximately 8:49 a.m., and then immediately informed the Fitchburg Fire Department.

Upon arrival, firefighters found two vehicles in the eastbound lanes with significant damage and two occupants involved. The fire department said one of the occupants, a 40-year-old man, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second person sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.

No other injuries to bystanders or first responders were reported, authorities said.
