Colombian President Gustavo Petro blasted President Donald Trump during a wide-ranging interview released Thursday over U.S. strikes on boats allegedly carrying illegal drugs.
In an exclusive interview with NBC News, Petro explained his decision announced earlier this week to suspend sharing intelligence information with U.S. agencies until Washington brings its attacks against vessels in the Caribbean to a halt.
“He is lost on the issue of the real analysis of what is going on with cocaine in Colombia,” Petro told NBC News .
He added: “He is a barbarian, but anyone can change.”
Both Trump and Petro have continued to trade barbs on social media over attacks in the Caribbean and off the Pacific coasts that have left dozens dead, according to data from the Trump administration.
