At least three New Jersey bishops were among the more than 200 American Catholic leaders who issued a rare rebuke of the Trump administration Wednesday for its immigration policies and the "indiscriminate mass deportation of people" from the U.S.
Newark Cardinal Joseph Tobin, Paterson Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney and David M. O'Connell of the Trenton Diocese each expressed support for the Special Pastoral Message adopted Nov. 13 by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops at their annual meeting in Baltimore.
Tobin, who leads 1.3 million North Jersey Catholics in the Archdiocese of Newark, was among more than a dozen bishops featured in a video reel posted by the Conference on Facebook.
