The Tennessee Highway Patrol reminded drivers to keep an eye out for the animals as "deer season" gets underway in Tennessee. November is historically the peak month for deer-related crashes in Tennessee, according to state troopers.
In 2024, Tennessee saw more than 8,000 deer-related crashes, including 465 injury crashes and five that led to deaths. But even those crashes that didn't leave a driver or passenger injured led to property damage. Shelby County was one of the three top counties in West Tennessee for deer-related crashes in 2024, joining Madison County and Henderson County.
