This year’s 2025 Wreaths Across America ceremony is expected to be the largest gathering in the event’s history. Scott Burenheide, Emporia Location Coordinator, said that his team plans on collecting 2,333 wreaths to be placed on veterans’ graves: one for every veteran at the cemetery.
Not including over a thousand unprocessed checks, the current count for wreaths sits at 541. Last year, 735 wreaths were placed at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The ceremony honoring the wreaths, and the physical wreath-placing, is expected to take place December 13 at 11:00 a.m.
Anyone intending to place a wreath at a specific grave can indicate the grave’s placement when sponsoring a wreath. Burenheide will ensure that grace-specific individuals will be able to place their wreaths first at 10:00 a.m.
