Crosswinds, a nonprofit organization based in Kansas that provides mental health services, is asking for donations of warm winter clothing to support those in need as winter approaches.

“I know what it's like to be in the cold weather and not have proper clothing,” said Allecia Deuel, the organizer of the drive. “I don't want to see anyone go through it, too, if I can help.”

Deuel says she came up with the idea for the drive while doing regular duties at the Crosswinds Pantry, which provides food and hygiene products year-round.

Crosswinds has requested the following items, new or gently used:

Coats

Jackets

Gloves

Hats

Beanies

Scarves

Those wishing to donate may drop off items at the Crosswinds Pantry, located at 1519 Merchant St. in Emporia, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to
