BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A man who attacked an 81-year-old woman in Bridgeport has been arrested and is facing assault charges, according to police.

Police said officers arrested Samuel Bryant, 42, on Thursday after being called to investigate a report of squatting and finding him in a vacant East End home.

Bryant is accused of attacking a woman in her car on Sept. 16. The victim told police she was attacked near the intersection of Barnum and Central Avenues as she was driving home from a church meeting. She told police she drove by a man and a woman standing in the street near the intersection. She heard the woman scream as she went by, and the victim pulled over to make sure she hadn't hit the woman with her vehicle.
