SAGUACHE, Colo. (KKTV) - Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is asking for the community’s help in finding a person who they said illegally killed a Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep.
The bighorn sheep was found dead in Saguache County on Tuesday.
Wildlife officers said a person reported that the ram had been shot and was left near Saguache County Road 38FF in the cabin draw area around 1:20 p.m. Officers responded to the area and found that the animal had been shot once earlier that day.
CPW also said the meat was spoiled by the time officers arrived at the area, so they were unable to donate it.
“This bighorn was shot and left there with nothing removed from it,” District Wildlife Manager William Miedema said. “There is a single bighorn ram hunting license available in S-10 and neighboring
