SAUGERTIES, N.Y. — Town Board members expect to make some changes to a proposed $17.71 million 2026 budget that carries a 3.8% increase of $647,796.

The revisions will be part of discussions during the board’s Wednesday, Nov. 19, meeting, starting at 7 p.m., said Supervisor Fred Costello.

“It costs more to provide the services that we’re doing,” Costello said, “and that’s a reflection of the inflation we’ve experienced over the last couple of years … (such as) the continuing increases in the cost of healthcare and the continuing increases in the cost of general insurance.” I think we spent close to $300,000 on insurance, and we’re anticipating another 10% to 15% jump in that cost as well.”
