APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - Two people were hurt after a house fire on Friday in Appleton.

Around 12 p.m. on Friday, the Appleton Police Department responded to the 800 block of West Grant Street for a report of a structure fire.

Crews on the scene found a single-family home with visible smoke and flames at the rear of the house. Firefighters say the fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes.

Two people suffered injuries during the evacuation of the house, with one being taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The cause has not yet been determined. The Appleton Fire Department estimates the damages at around $200,000.

The Appleton Fire Department says they would like to remind everyone to always know two ways out of every room in case one is blocked or too dangerous to use.
