ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - After the Missouri General Assembly passed a senior tax freeze two years ago, we’ve seen firsthand how popular the program is, with more than 80,000 people signing up for it in St. Louis County alone.
But now we’re learning how the lack of tax revenue will affect St. Louis County school districts.
Districts like Rockwood, Ladue and Parkway are losing millions this year because of the program.
“Parkway provided my kids with an excellent education, and I want to do what I need to do to support them, so I want to pay what I need to,” said Mary Shepardson.
While Mary Shepardson tells First Alert 4 she applied for the senior tax freeze, she said she would be willing to vote yes to raise her taxes, including bond issues, to ensure her district educates
