After a first half of missed opportunities, the second-seeded Nelson Hawks broke out with a third quarter of dominance and earned their first-ever berth in the 6A football semifinals with a 21-7 home victory over No. 10 Lakeridge on a blustery night in Happy Valley.

Brody Austin caught two touchdown passes and Corbin Croslin ran for another score in the decisive third quarter as Nelson (10-1) broke open a game that was scoreless at halftime and took a 21-0 lead into the final frame.
