Commuters between East Kilbride and Glasgow only have a few weeks to wait before the introduction of electric trains, which promise a 'cleaner, quieter and more reliable railway.'

The final upgrades are due to be complete ahead of the first passenger electric services on December 14, and a series of successful test runs has already taken place.

It comes as part of a £144 million investment from the Scottish Government to modernise the route between Glasgow and East Kilbride, allowing electric trains to run on the line.

The project supports Scotland’s wider ambitions to decarbonise the transport network and make it more environmentally friendly.
