This is in response to Joe Valente’s letter, “NYC in for rough 4 years with this fool as mayor ."

I waited a while before writing this because I thought I need not waste my time with this “old” man. But I am 77, so also old, and couldn’t remain silent.

Mamdani won the mayoral election by getting 50.4% of the vote. I also don’t consider that a mandate, but a decent margin from Cuomo, who only attained 41.6% of the vote. After all, Trump keeps touting that he has a mandate and he only won by 1.47%.

But none of that matters: Mr. Mamdani will be the mayor of New York City, which includes Staten Island and I wish him success.

My major concern with your letter is your language and your derisive comments for others. You use the word “minion” which is defined as unimportant or servile. What
