The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation after a heartbreaking tragedy claimed the life of a two-year-old boy early Saturday morning in Newark.
According to a statement released by Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Newark Police responded to 455 Elizabeth Avenue around 7:00 a.m. on November 15, 2025, following reports that a child had fallen from a 20th-floor window.
When officers arrived, they found the toddler unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say the circumstances surrounding the fall remain under active investigation.
