The family of late 2-year-old De’Markus Page filed a wrongful death lawsuit against UF Health Shands in Gainesville, Fla.

The family claimed that the boy, who died in 2024, was given "two consecutive doses of a massive overdose of oral potassium phosphate" that led him to go into cardiac arrest

The family also claimed in their complaint filed on Nov. 6 that it took 20 minutes for physicians to successfully intubate him and that he "sustained profound irreversible brain injury"
