HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Runners and walkers of all ages participated in the YMCA’s annual 5K Turkey Trot Saturday morning in Hastings.
The 3.1-mile route attracted 200 individual participants and 28 teams of four runners, marking the largest turnout in four years for the event.
Local4 team members were among those who participated in the morning race.
“I feel like it brings the community together really well. It’s really cool to see new faces and old faces show up every year to run. And then everybody just kind of hangs out for a little bit afterwards after they run and eats pie, so what’s better than that?” said Zandra Golter, wellness director at the YMCA.
Winners from the race received a free turkey. The YMCA also donates food from the team race to Lincoln Elementary.
