MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Veterans and active military personnel were treated to a free breakfast Saturday morning at the Elks Lodge in Madison.
The lodge has over 750 members all dedicated to building community and giving back. The annual breakfast always happens the Saturday before or after Veterans Day.
This year, they chose Saturday’s date to ensure veterans who were on last Saturday’s Honor Flight would be able to attend.
One veteran was on the flight and was welcomed by former President Obama.
He says Saturday’s breakfast helped end the week of honor just as it started — full of joy and surrounded by community.
