Nevada got out to a fast start, and had an outstanding defensive effort, to end its 16-game conference losing streak in impressive fashion.

The Wolf Pack beat San Jose State, 55-10, in front of an announced crowd of 14,491 fans Saturday at Mackay Stadium.

The win ended Nevada's 16-game conference losing streak, and should give the Wolf Pack football team a huge boost of confidence heading into the final two games of the season, starting at Wyoming next Saturday.

Freshman quarterback Carter Jones had his best game in a Wolf Pack uniform, completing 16-of-19 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.

For Nevada coach Jeff Choate, it was his first conference win in his two seasons with the Wolf Pack.
