The results so far remain close in voting on Mayor-President Sid Edwards’ plan to ease East Baton Rouge Parish’s budget woes by rerouting some tax money to the parish general fund.

With 107 of 331 precincts reporting, two of the three proposals had better than 50% support: Proposal No. 2 — Mosquito Abatement and Rodent Control — had 51% yes votes, while Proposal No. 3, concerning Council on Aging taxes, had 53%. Proposal No. 1, on the library system, had 49% yes votes to 51% no votes, but the margin was shrinking as more precincts reported.

The three proposals on the ballot would take some of the tax money currently dedicated to three departments — libraries, mosquito and rodent control and the Council on Aging — and rededicate it to the city-parish general fund. Mayor-President Sid Edwa
