PORTALES, New Mexico (KFDA) - Eastern New Mexico basketball programs are preparing for the 2025-26 season following successful campaigns last year.

The men’s basketball program missed reaching the quarterfinals by one point last season. The women’s basketball program made its first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.

Athletic Director Kevin Fite said the success gives the programs momentum heading into the new season.

“The talent level, which was pretty good last year, has jumped up this year. So, we’re certainly seeing greater talent,” Fite said. “And you get a general sense of togetherness from both squads. And I think they know that, hey, we’re talented as a team, and you can kind of see them bonding.”
