On Sunday at 1:31 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory valid from 1 p.m. until Monday 7 p.m. for Cayuga, Onondaga, Tompkins, Madison and Cortland counties.
"Total snow accumulations between 3 and 7 inches, mainly in higher terrain areas. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph," can be anticipated according to the weather service. "Mixed rain and wet snow in early afternoon, will become narrow bands of accumulating lake effect snow late afternoon through Monday."
