Three suspected Maoists were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Sunday, PTI reported.
Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan told PTI that the gunfight broke out in the forested hills of Bhejji and Chintagufa police station areas.
“A team of District Reserve Guard was out on an anti-Maoist operation based on inputs about the presence of Maoist cadres in the region,” Chavan was quoted as saying.
On November 11, six suspected Maoists were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Bijapur district.
Last month, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs said that the number of districts affected by “ Left-wing extremism ” has come down to 11 from 18 in March.
