MAYVILLE, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A massive grain elevator fire that started shortly before 8 p.m. Friday in Mayville is now contained, with the structure collapsing roughly an hour after the blaze began.
Traill County Sheriff Steve Hunt told Valley News Live that the elevator came down around 9 p.m., with embers floating eastward from the scene.
Fire Chief Rich Hart announced on the Mayville Fire Department’s Facebook page that the fire has been contained and other departments are being dismissed.
“We greatly appreciate all of their help,” Hart said in the social media post. “We will keep 2nd Ave blocked off most likely for a couple days. Please just refrain from going near the scene.”
