The victim of a fatal St. Paul hit-and-run has been identified, and a suspect is in custody, police say.

The hit-and-run was reported at around 5:15 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of St. Anthony Avenue and Aldine Street, where police say a driver struck a woman before fleeing the scene, leaving the victim with serious injuries. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as 30-year-old Amber O. Deneen, of St. Paul.

Following the incident, the St. Paul Police Department made a public appeal for information relating to the driver involved. On Saturday, the department announced that a 39-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the crash.
