York County fire crews have been battling a structure fire for nearly an hour, working amid gusty winds that have caused the fire to spread, according to dispatch records.
The fire was called in around 10 a.m., according to dispatch, at Winterstown Road near Hill Street and Church Road in Winterstown Borough. Multiple units were brought out, including brush units, an air unit and multiple tankers, according to dispatch records.
Firefighters, speaking on the scanner, said they were concerned about the fire spreading over a hill to Woodland Drive, the next road over. As they spoke, the sound of heavy wind came through, contributing to the fire’s spread.
Winterstown Road is closed, and drivers should avoid the area.
