In a major escalation of its probe into the Red Fort car bomb blast, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a Kashmiri man who played a crucial role in helping suicide bomber Dr Umar Un Nabi execute the attack that killed 10 people and injured 32 in Delhi earlier this month.

Amir was arrested from Delhi after investigators confirmed that the car used in the November 10 blast was registered in his name. According to the NIA, he had travelled to the capital to assist Umar in securing the vehicle, which was later turned into a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED).

The agency said Amir had actively conspired with Umar, an Assistant Professor of General Medicine at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, to carry out the bombing near the Red Fort.
