MADISON, (WKOW)— The second annual We Give Blood drive, a partnership between Abbott Health and the Big Ten, is underway.

Running from August 27 to December 5, this event challenges Big Ten students and fans to donate blood for their schools.

The competition offers a $1 million prize for student and community health to the school with the highest number of donations. Last year, Nebraska claimed victory while Wisconsin came in second with just over 2,000 donors. This year, the competition is fierce, with more than 60,000 donors participating so far. Wisconsin is currently leading with 11,300 donors.

However, Nebraska is close behind, making the race tight as the deadline approaches. Badger alumni, families, and fans are encouraged to donate blood and log their contributions .
