LOMIRA, Wis. (WMTV) - A 16-year-old in Dodge County was seriously injured Saturday night after an accidental fire broke out in a Lomira apartment complex.

Deputies say the call came in shortly before 9 p.m. from an apartment building on Park Lane. When crews arrived, they learned the teen had been using a lighter to melt plastic keyboard keys in an attempt to repair it. A nearby bottle of isopropyl alcohol ignited, sparking a brief fire.

The teen was flown by medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee with what authorities described as serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He remains hospitalized.

The flames were out before firefighters got there and damage inside the unit was minimal. No residents were displaced.
