DODGE COUNTY, Wis. (WKOW) — A 16-year-old boy suffered serious burn injuries in an accidental fire in the Village of Lomira on Saturday night.

The fire occurred in an apartment building on Park Lane and was reported shortly before 9 p.m. Dodge County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the scene. They determined that the teenager was using a lighter to melt plastic keys on a keyboard when a nearby bottle of isopropyl alcohol ignited.

The fire was extinguished before the fire department arrived, causing minimal damage to the apartment.

The injured teenager was flown to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee by medical helicopter. He is suspected to have serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized. The incident was deemed accidental, with no indication of intentiona
