MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WFSB) - The Board of Education is moving forward with finding an interim superintendent after placing Alberto Vazquez Matos on administrative leave for DUI charges in Florida.

The board met on Sunday afternoon and decided they will serve as the personnel search committee to pick the new head of the Middletown school district.

Body camera video from Hillsborough County Police in Florida showed Vazquez Matos being arrested for allegedly drunk driving on July 29. When pulled over, he told officers he was not drinking but failed a field sobriety test.

“You feeling ok? You sure because you were riding the middle line then you swerved,” an officer said during the traffic stop.

“I was looking at my phone,” Vazquez Matos responded.
