WESTBROOK, Conn. (WFSB) - For 24 hours, Channel 3’s Renee DiNino along with first responders jumped into freezing cold water every single hour on the hour.
It was all part of the penguin super plunge, helping to raise money for Special Olympics Connecticut.
There’s nothing like a little “shipping up to Boston” playing at 5 a.m. to get you ready to plunge into the icy waters for the 17th time in 17 hours.
Even in the pitch black though, this group still finds the energy.
Diving in and getting out as quickly as possible, trying to get back inside to change clothes and get warm before they’re back at it an hour later.
Inside, drying racks filled with clothes and towels.
22 people packed into the Westbrook Elks Lodge, trying to get as much shut eye as possible in between plunges.
