The weather phenomenon that caused the infamous 'Beast from the East' snowstorm in 2018 could be about to occur over the UK again.
The so-called Beast from the East sent temperatures across the UK plummeting in February 2018. Several parts of the country saw as much as 20 inches of snow settle on the ground.
It was caused by a weather phenomenon known as sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) which, despite its name, can bring subzero temperatures and Arctic conditions to our shores. And forecasters now say SSW might be about to occur once more.
