PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) - A food pantry working to help students at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s campus has seen an uptick in people stopping in.

Pioneer Provisions has seen a 30% increase in the number of students using the pantry. The high number of students is worrying some people who work at the pantry.

“There is really a demand on this campus for this food pantry and there’s always a shortage of volunteers,” said Andy Mills, a UW-Platteville senior who has volunteered at the pantry since his freshman year.

Stephanie Young is a registered dietitian nutritionist at the university and serves as the manager for Pioneer Provisions. She says the increase gives her some anxiety about helping students.

“Without enough food on the shelves, we can’t help them enough,” she said
