DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- North Carolina Central University has a new interim chief of police.

The school shared that Capt. Robert Gaddy will be taking over as interim chief next month.

Gaddy is a Durham native and NCCU alum (1993) and has been overseeing the school's patrol and security operations since retiring from the Durham Police Department in 2022.

His first official day in the new role is Dec. 8.

The former chief, Damon Williams, who served as NCCU's chief of police for almost six years, is returning to his alma mater and home as the chief of police at Fayetteville State University.
