The installation of external lighting and redecorating of a Whitby town centre public house has been approved. Star Pubs And Bars' has been given permission to erect and install illuminated and non-illuminated signs at The Golden Lion pub in Whitby .
The approved scheme also includes redecoration of the exterior of the building, which was amended during the application over concerns raised by planners. The Grade II listed building, located next to the Swing Bridge, is within the Whitby conservation area.
The three-storey building consists of painted cream brickwork and a slate roof. Following concerns raised by planning officers during the review, two of the proposed signs were removed from the plan.
Sign 'F' in the proposed plans and drawings was also amended to a hand-painted sign.
