DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings wasted little time in responding to their most disappointing loss of the season.
Lucas Raymond snapped a tie late in the third period Sunday and the Red Wings defeated the New York Rangers 2-1 at Madison Square Garden.
A melee erupted after the final horn, when Rangers goaltender Jonathan Quick, who had been pulled for the extra skater, came off the bench and tried to attack Mason Appleton. Appleton fired the puck into the empty net after the buzzer, and Quick took exception.
There was a lot of pushing and shoving between numerous players before they headed to their respective dressing rooms.
