DALLAS, Texas — A 23-year-old woman died after she was struck by a car in Downtown Dallas early Saturday morning, according to Dallas Police.
Family and friends gathered in South Dallas to remember Aya Knox, a young woman they lovingly called “The Queen of Dallas.” Her aunt, Nakia Clay, said the nickname “shows how loved she was.”
Knox had just celebrated her birthday weeks before her last night out with friends.
Police said the crash happened around 4:40 a.m. in the 1500 block of Elm Street, where Knox became pinned underneath the vehicle. She was taken to the hospital and later died. The driver remained at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
Clay described the loss as “traumatic” and “surreal,” saying the family still hasn’t fully processed what happened.
