SIOUX FALLS — The dawn of a new era for USA Curling materialized Sunday night at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.
For the first time in two decades, John Shuster was unable to claim gold at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Curling. Instead, it was 24-year-old upstart Daniel Casper and his rink who played spoiler.
Team Casper secured four of the final five points in the decisive third match of the men’s team final, securing a stunning 7-5 victory over the veteran Team Shuster squad.
