A man who authorities say worked for a human trafficking operation led by a Baton Rouge married couple — including collecting money from the women forced to have sex with clients — claims he didn't know what kind of work he would be doing before taking the job.

Edyn "Chupito" Arevalo, 52, was booked into the parish prison last week on one count each of promoting prostitution, pandering and conspiracy to commit human trafficking, according records from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office.

Arevalo worked under alleged pimp Maurilio "Primo" Vargas , 40, making $700 a week to facilitate meet-ups between clients and Primo's trafficked women, authorities say. Vargas and his wife, Zabdi Guzman-Diaz, 40, were arrested last week.
