A light rain expected to develop by the afternoon of Nov. 17 will spread and become more intense later in the day before changing to snow overnight in parts of eastern South Dakota, according to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls.
There could be 1 to 3 inches of accumulating snow in parts of east central South Dakota and southwest Minnesota, mostly north of U.S. Highway 14, by the morning of Nov. 18, the weather service said.
The forecast for Sioux Falls calls for rain mainly after 3 p.m. Nov. 17, with wind gusts as high as 30 mph during the day. While there is a chance of drizzle and snow overnight, "little or now snow accumulation" is expected in the area, the weather service said.
