CARMEL, Calif. (Gray News) – A diver has located the body of a 7-year-old girl who was swept into the ocean at a California beach on Friday, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement .
According to the sheriff’s office, a family was visiting Garrapata State Beach when the girl was pulled into the ocean by a large wave.
The girl’s father, identified as 39-year-old Yuji Hu, tried to save her, but they were both pulled farther out to sea.
Deputies said the girl’s mother also tried to help but was swept into the water herself. She was able to make it back to shore while two bystanders pulled Hu from the water and immediately began CPR.
Deputies said the girl’s parents were taken to the hospital, where her father was later pronounced dead. Her mother was last listed in stab
