Man arrested after shooting homeowner during attempted robbery in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A 22-year-old man has been arrested after a man was shot during an attempted robbery on Saturday, Nov. 15 .

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to the 3200 block of Mulga Loop Road to investigate a 911 call.

When deputies arrived, they learned that a 22-year-old man had attempted to rob the residents of the home. Previous reports said a 33-year-old man, but reports Monday, Nov. 17 confirmed the suspect is 22.

Officials say a shot was fired and the suspect was struck before he left the scene and ran into a wooded area. Deputies say they searched the area on Saturday but were unable to locate the suspect.
