A high school student was arrested after reportedly bringing a realistic-looking gun to school on Monday, according to police.
The Braintree High School student was arrested and sanctions are pending after the incident early Monday.
A Braintree Police school resource officer was approached by a witness — who reported that another student had a handgun. The witness said he saw the gun.
The officer immediately alerted his supervisors and school administrators, leading to a shelter-in-place at the school.
“Braintree Police Officers and school staff were able to separate the student, where officers detained the student without incident,” police said in a statement. “The student was cooperative, and a search revealed a realistic-looking air soft type pistol in the student’s coat.”
