PORTSMOUTH — A new pop-up food pantry has opened on the porch of the historic Leonard Brown House in Portsmouth, offering around-the-clock access to free food for residents facing hardship.
The Four Hearts Foundation (FHF) launched the pantry Nov. 9 in collaboration with Newport Living Group .
FHF founder Kateri Buerman and Newport Living Group’s Candace Sandman set up the shelves and stocked the space, which sits at 121 Linden Lane at Glen Farm. The effort was supported by community donations and made possible through assistance from Portsmouth Parks and Recreation.
The pantry will operate 24/7 and provides nonperishable foods, canned goods, snacks and other essential items. Organizers said the goal is to help residents experiencing food insecurity or sudden financial strain.
