David Tordjman will be the next mayor of the city of Côte-St-Luc after a judicial recount showed he defeated incumbent Mitchell Brownstein by seven votes in the Nov. 2 election.
Earlier results had put Tordjman up by a single vote , while preliminary results on election night had Brownstein, who had been mayor of the city since 2016, leading by 50 votes.
“I always had faith and it has been, obviously, a little bit emotional, up and then down and then up and then down, but I had faith that the results were going to be positive,” Tordjman said in an interview Monday, adding that he’s now looking forward to starting the work of making the changes he promised in the city.
Major issues in the race included housing developments that could increase the city’s population by a quarter and a rise
